Try your own market fresh, delicious Caprese Salad
posted by SPD Communications on June 16, 2015 in Market RecipesWith the weather heating up, there are baseball games to attend, little league practice, a yard to tend to, and many other activities. With all these things going on, time spent in the kitchen is often overlooked. This week, Jenna McClean, the registered dietitian and health coach at the Health and Wellness Center featured a simple and easy summer recipe.
With only four ingredients, the Caprese salad is sure to be a crowd favorite with easy clean up! The salad includes: tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, olive oil, salt and pepper. The fresh ingredients are easily found at vendor stations at the Statehouse Market, and the oil and spices are already a pantry staple. This dish is a wonderful compliment to a main entrée, but can also hold its own if you are looking for a lighter, fresh dinner.
Tomatoes are right in season, along with a large variety of produce. Our vendors bring items that have been picked earlier in the week, ensuring you are receiving the farm-fresh taste you are looking for. In addition to produce, we also have vendors that sell pork, flowers and honey.
