Statehouse Market plans July 9 opening
posted by SPD Communications on May 20, 2020 in MarketDue to the state of Indiana’s ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indiana State Personnel Department will delay the opening of the 2020 Statehouse Market to Thursday, July 9.
Based on the revised re-opening date, the Statehouse Market will operate for a total of 14 weeks with our final market taking place Thursday, Oct. 8. The times of the market will remain the same as always (10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.)
Additionally, there will be changes in our layout as well as to the number of vendors and food trucks we can accommodate on a weekly basis. These changes are being implemented to encourage social distancing among our employee population. For an indeterminate amount of time, we will have to reduce the number of food trucks and vendors on Robert D. Orr Plaza on a given market day.
The market is an important part of the state employee experience and we must be able to provide an atmosphere that is fun and safe for all of our employees as well as for our produce growers, entrepreneurs, and mobile restaurant operators.
We look forward to sharing more details as 2020 Opening Day approaches.
