Every Thursday in the summer employees in downtown Indianapolis have the opportunity to take a break from their work and stroll outside to purchase lunch from Indy’s food trucks and fresh produce from farmers. But what journey does the food take from the field to the Statehouse Market?
On March 25 state employees have an opportunity to enjoy fare from top Indy food trucks, preview the 2014 Statehouse Market and learn about the men and women behind their food through the National Ag Day celebration, “Ag Day 2014: From Fields to Food Trucks.”
The event, sponsored by Indiana’s Family of Farmers, takes place on March 25. At 11 a.m., there will be opening remarks from Indiana State Department of Agriculture Director Ted McKinney and the reading of a proclamation from Gov. Mike Pence. The Colts mascot “Blue” plans to attend the event.
Indiana’s Family of Farmers is non-profit organization composed of representatives from Indiana’s commodity and agricultural organizations. The group exists to promote agriculture and serve as a liaison between consumers and producers. Indiana State Department of Agriculture is a partner with Indiana’s Family of Farmers.
