Statehouse Market 2020 canceled

posted by SPD Communications on July 2, 2020 SHM 2020 canceled

Due to circumstances involving COVID-19 in Indiana, the Indiana State Personnel Department has made the difficult decision to cancel the Statehouse Market this season.

We’ve worked very hard all year to examine all of our options for the continuation of the event in light of the ongoing pandemic, and up until recently it appeared we were going to be able to move forward with our delayed July 9 start date. Unfortunately, we have made the determination that the best path forward is to cancel all 14 weeks of the event this season and begin preparations for a return in 2021.

The Statehouse Market, as a signature event of the state of Indiana’s Invest in Your Health program, is intended to provide state employees and members of the general public the opportunity to purchase healthy items, such as Hoosier-grown produce, and to highlight the many Indiana entrepreneurs who are utilizing their skills and talents to create one-of-a-kind foods, beverages, condiments, and so much more.

We hope our market-goers will continue to support these farmers and small businesses. You can see a list of our current roster here.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the cancellation of the Statehouse Market this year, and we look forward to seeing our fellow employees and market participants on Robert D. Orr Plaza in 2021.

Statehouse Market set to return July 9

posted by SPD Communications on June 25, 2020 market blog pic

The Statehouse Market is set to return Thursday, July 9.

Beginning on that date and continuing each Thursday throughout the month of July, approximately a dozen produce vendors and food truck operators will be invited to Robert D. Orr Plaza for a Statehouse Market that will be reduced in size.

These changes are being put in place in order to comply with social distancing guidelines necessary due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. If Indiana moves to stage of 5 of Gov. Eric Holcomb’s Back on Track Indiana Plan and is able to remain in that stage due to positive health indicators and other criteria set forth in the plan, the Statehouse Market will return to its normal size and scope beginning in August.

Check back next week to see the full Opening Day roster revealed.

Keep watching StatehouseMarket.com to stay up-to-date on the market all season long.

Statehouse Market plans July 9 opening

posted by SPD Communications on May 20, 2020

Due to the state of Indiana’s ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indiana State Personnel Department will delay the opening of the 2020 Statehouse Market to Thursday, July 9.

Based on the revised re-opening date, the Statehouse Market will operate for a total of 14 weeks with our final market taking place Thursday, Oct. 8. The times of the market will remain the same as always (10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.)

Additionally, there will be changes in our layout as well as to the number of vendors and food trucks we can accommodate on a weekly basis. These changes are being implemented to encourage social distancing among our employee population. For an indeterminate amount of time, we will have to reduce the number of food trucks and vendors on Robert D. Orr Plaza on a given market day.

The market is an important part of the state employee experience and we must be able to provide an atmosphere that is fun and safe for all of our employees as well as for our produce growers, entrepreneurs, and mobile restaurant operators.

We look forward to sharing more details as 2020 Opening Day approaches.

Statehouse Market is part of the Invest In Your Health initiative from the State Personnel Department.
