Owner Zach Rohn took time to answer the following questions about his business, which he started in 2014.
Q: From artisan ketchup to several different types of mustard, what separates Batch No. 2’s products from other, more well-known brands?
A: We don’t use refined sugar or artificial ingredients. We keep our labels and ingredient list simple.
Q: When and how did you decide you wanted to get into the business of selling homemade condiments?
A: I started working in restaurants and found a better opportunity in making a product.
Q: What do you like most about your business and who are the primary people involved?
A: Me and my partner. We like the flexibility and the freedom.
Q: What do you like most about the Statehouse Market?
A: It’s a different crowd than our other farm markets, plus the grounds are very aesthetic.
Q: Ketchup or mustard? Which is truly the best and why?
A: Depends on what kind of ketchup or mustard, but mostly yellow mustard…with ketchup.
