Vendors for October 10 – Last market this season!
posted by SPD Communications on October 7, 2013 in Market UncategorizedWe’ve reached the end of the season at the Statehouse Market, so Thursday is the last time our produce vendors and food trucks are lining up on Robert Orr Plaza. You helped us determine some of the food trucks that are here for the final market this season in food truck fan voting in September. In total we’ve got 13 food trucks here Thursday and with nine produce vendors.
Some highlights include the final appearance of Grandpa Jay’s Pork. Grandpa Jay (Jay Hawley) is retiring from the pork business as of Saturday’s Noblesville Farmer’s Market to be a full-time grain farmer. This is your last chance to enjoy Grandpa Jay’s pork burger (pictured right) forever.
Visit another meat producer Red Barn Meats who is completely re-stocked on all products. Red Barn is having a sale on their Grain Fed Ground Beef and will be selling it for $5.50/pound. Customers are encouraged to sign up at their booth for more information about purchasing products throughout the winter. If Red Barn Meats gets enough interest and orders, they say will try to coordinate deliveries to Indy. Also, ask for additional information if you are interested in purchasing bulk beef.
Flat Rock Farms is here and they report they still have mums to sell along with potatoes, spinach, peppers, onions and butternut squash.
Enjoy desserts from Sweet Jeanius Bakery. Their healthy selection is a Fresh Apple Crisp (only 200 calories) made from apples from Farlow Orchard in Howard County. The dish is sweetened with natural honey and topped with brown sugar and raw oats.
Visit Taco Lassi for their Grilled Shrimp Tacos or try their special market item they’re calling Tongue Tacos. Taco Lassi also has Sea Salt Brownies, Habanero White Chocolate Cookies and their Indian snack mix called Chewda.
Nacho Mama features her Mini Taco Salad which includes lettuce, veggie “beef” crumbles, Spanish rice, Chihuahua cheese, chipotle sour cream, and fresh salsa in a baked tortilla bowl. It’s only $5.
Caveman Truck is making a special Pumpkin Stew for the final market day. The dish features organic pumpkin, Smoking Goose bacon, pastured chicken, organic carrot, organic apple, cinnamon, nutmeg and coconut milk.
Dhaba Indy returns again with their Indian fare, including a Grilled Tilapia with Basmati Rice and Naan for $8.
Also, we’ve heard a rumor that for Der Pretzel Wagen’s final market appearance this season, owner Bryan Monroe will be wearing lederhosen. So enjoy a little bit of Oktoberfest at the Statehouse Market!
