Thursday is week 20 of the Statehouse Market. The third season finished up next week on October 9. So there’s only two weeks left to eat a fresh lunch and shop for a healthy dinner at our market.
Three picks of the week
Squash, squash, squash – All of our produce vendors have some variety of this seasonal favorite.
Spice Box returns this week and they are featuring their Channa Naan Wrap. Channa is Indian-style garbanzo beans (chickpeas) blended with spices stuffed into Naan (bread) and topped with Indian salad and sauces.
Citizen Hash is offering their Winter Hash. What’s in this dish, you ask? It’s got bacon, sweet potato, brussels sprouts, red onion and spinach for $6. Add and egg for another dollar or add both egg and creamy polenta for another $2.

Biltz Greenhouses – Featuring varieties of apples, sweet corn, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes and pumpkins.
Posey & Pumpkins – Tomatoes, squash, corn, peppers plus mums, asters, and other seasonal plants.
Simple Taste Specialty Bakery – Featuring specialty, gluten-free breads including Paleo, banana, zucchini and pumpkin. Also check out owner Jenny Cleave’s weekly selection of desserts like pumpkin muffins, pumpkin roll and apple, plum and pear baby pies. Vegan and vegetarian dieters will be happy to know Simple Taste plans to have a bigger selection this week.
Van Antwerp Farm Market – Tomatoes, green beans, eggplants, pumpkins, sweet corn and other produce.
Wilson Farm – Watermelons, pears, greens, tomatoes, herbs, pumpkins and gourds.
The Pork Shoppe – – Frozen pork products including pork chops, pork burgers, three types of sausage, bacon and both loin and shoulder roasts.
Red Barn Meats – Grass fed beef, grain fed beef, pork, goat and lamb, soup bones, knuckle bones, and beef variety meats. They also have a variety of pork as well as various lamb & goat items.
