Top government leaders visit the market
posted by Melissa on May 24, 2013 in MarketGovernor Mike Pence and First Lady Karen Pence stopped by the Statehouse Market today. His visit began at Grandpa Jay’s Pork booth where both he and Mrs. Pence devoured a delicious pork burger. Owners Grandpa Jay and Suzanne Hawley have met the Governor before when he and Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann toured their farm and had a round table meeting in their living room with 30+ people from the agriculture community.
The Governor and First Lady then stopped by Wildflower Ridge Honey’s booth to purchase some of Wildflower’s legendary whipped honey. Owners Dave and Pattie Barrickman chatted with them about their company and products.
The next stop was to buy some herbs from Van Antwerp Farm Market booth and also sample Ludwig Farmstead Creamery cheese.
And lastly, the Governor Pence wanted to buy the First Lady her first Nicey Treat. She enjoyed a cool delicious Not So Hot Chocolate flavor as they talked with the owner of Nicey Treat, Jeff Patrick.
The Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann also stopped by later in the day and mingled with Grandpa Jay as well.
Thank you to Governor Pence, First Lady Karen Pence and Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann for supporting the Statehouse Market. Please come visit us again soon!
